Sometimes we make mistake on naming layers. For example, it could be a typo or mistakenly typed L as R, or even just think of a better name to make things more clear, etc. When this happen and we found it in spine, we generally want to correct/update the name of the slot and image attachment. However, renaming image attachment doesn't update the corresponding image file name which is super annoying. I remembered from an old post that there seems to be an idea that modifying those generated file is what you guys want to avoid but please read to the end and see if things make more sense this way.
When renaming image attachment and found that the new name has corresponding image, okey its is an update to point the attachment to another image. Everything is fine.
However, when renaming image attachment and found that the new name does not point to any file, it is obviously user want a true rename, not just update the attachment to a new visual. It In this case I really prefer spine could auto rename the image file too so that I only need to update the PSD layer name to keep things consistent. No need to see the missing file visual and no need to visit the image folder and manually find the image and rename it. The workflow is much smoother this way.
This function can be an option to turn on in the setting so that it won't affect current user if they prefer the old way until they manually turn it on.
How do you guys think?
Thanks
P.S. . renaming is like a daily task to me as some artists I am working with are not good at English and things are quite messy without renaming the things right. Really hope this part can be improved.
