Question about asset tinting in LOKR

I've been trying to reach you through Discord to have a less telegraphic chat, but I couldn't. And as I know you want your secret superheroine identity to be kept that, this is my only way to send you my question. :p

It's about how you're pre-tinting the "flesh" images violet. According to Vlad, you're doing that from some time ago upon your suggestion, so they can be tinted in other colors in Unity. That's much is obvious.

But... why violet? :think: Is there a reason for choosing that color? I've been searching in Google to see if there's some kind of practice, but I can't find anything, and I'm really curious!

I find that blue-violet is a good color for multiplied shadows. The sun is generally casting a yellow-ish light, so the opposite is blue or violet depending if you're using a subtractive or additive method.

You can find out yourself this way: make your character in white and do some shading in a neutral color, such as gray on a separate transparent layer. Next use the color palette in your game to add colors as a layer on top in multiply (this mimicks what we do in Spine) and see if you like the shadows. The color that looked best for these characters was sometimes pink, sometimes blue, sometimes violet, and you got your answer 😃 it's the color that looks best for the character with other colors multiplied on it.

Then I'll need to experiement some, yes. As I'm using "human" characters myself.
