Hi,
my name is Jesse Lopez, I wanted to share my son's project with you all. My son is 6 and he is the Director of this project. He is a big fan of the show, and he asked me why havent I worked on a Super Mario game yet? Well, I told him we don't have to wait for that opportunity, we can do this on our own. I have worked at Wayforward for 6 years, I supervised Ducktales Remastered animation and character design. I enjoy 2d very much and using spine has been the best experience I have had so far. I was the lead animator and rigger for Shantae Hero and using spine 2d for that project was a great eye opener for the future of 2d animation. I hope you all enjoy the video's, I will upload the game as soon as I can find a programmer who is willing to help me.

It looks really cool! 😃 It's an interesting idea to remake Mario with super fancy graphics and 3D level effects. The animations look really good!

Thank you so much Nate! I believe I am Spines biggest fan,The fact that I can animate and manipulate my drawing how I see fit is amazing. Spine is indeed the tool that unifies 2d, 3d and pixel animation sensibilities together. I explain it here using animation I have done for Wayforward studios Thor the DS game, Hotel transylvaia, and Shantae Hero.

Thought I would share a small tip. If you know exactly how many pixels per frame the characters move you can use ghosting with the Offset set to the same value as the pixels per frame. It's quite easy to see if feet are sliding then 🙂

Shiu, thanks for the Pro tip! unfortunately I am just an animator who does not understand programming lingo. All I know is hard core 9 old men stuff like the 12 principles of animation. As well as hard core drawing and staying on model for any brand that comes my way. I had a programmer who was committed to the project, but we budded heads on the game play programming. So that slide you commenting on is something I have no clue how to fix. If you would like to take a look at it let me know? I mean if anyone wants to help me on this let me know! I sure need a talented programmer who is willing to do free work. Because I certainly do not want to make money off this game. My pure intention is to give and share with others the process on how to make animations for video games, It is far different from film animation.

Unfortunately I'm no programmer either. But basically if you can find out how many pixels the character moves per frame you can enter that value into the ghosting X offset and adjust the length of the animation until the sliding is gone.

It's likely somebody else will be able to help you out if you can share some code.
