If I perform a two finger pinch zoom on a trackpad (at least on a Surface Pro 4 trackpad), the Play and Play Backward buttons both become nonfunctional, toggling between play and stop when clicked, without actually playing anything. This occurs regardless of if playback is in progress, but will halt playback if done in the middle of it.
To remedy the problem, you must click any object in the viewport. Selecting something via the hierarchy will not have the same curative effect.
